Moving On

"Liberty is not just the absence of tyranny; it's the product of truth, freely practiced!"

This will be my last post here.
Everything from both web logs will be continued here.
The move/transition should be complete on/about the end of next month. Until then, I'll update on the new site.
Best regards, and DO come along.

The Independent University

"Liberty is not just the absence of tyranny; it's the product of truth, freely practiced!"

Nate opines on Vox Day's blog:

Once the educated elite believed it their sacred duty to help the People in the Cave...
Now...they have erected great doors at the mouth of the Cave...celebrate when the Cave is Entered...and they do all in their power to prevent anyone from escaping.

Where once free thought and speech were celebrated and the genius of young minds was cultivated with discipline, now is a miasmic wasteland; a flea market of ideas if you will, where the propaganda of oligarchic collectivism and stagnant socialist dogma await itching ears with nothing between them. Much like the synagogues and temple in the days of Christ (to say nothing of the churches of our time), people go there seeking answers and instead, find excuses.
If you are ever going to learn anything that will challenge you to think, you must now look outside the public schools and community colleges.
We have won some important victories in the theatre of media and journalism, but the vast, occupied territories of academia still wait to be liberated.
A small beachhead has been established via the homeschooling movement: Parents tiring of the brain-filthing of their children in the dumb-down, government-run, hedonist/humanist seminaries are taking up anew their God-given responsibility to educate their young. As you can imagine, this has been received by the union-labor elitists running the miseducation establishment with all the warmth of Siberia! Nonetheless, this is the future if our nation is to remain free.
Liberty and stupidity are eternal opposites.
As the invasion presses on, a reinforcement and supply line for the initiated should be established. While a few munitions factories are pumping out phonics materials and resurrecting the McGuffy Readers, little focus has been given to giving the reader something worth running his eyes across.
Non-politically corrected sets are rare today, but the Harvard Classics should form the foundation of an independent university. Start with the Bible, the Constitution, the Declaration of Independence and the Bill of Rights as the law school curriculum.

The torch Liberty bears has come all too close to being extinguished while the neon-sign "enlightenment" of feelosophical darkness still allures!

Saturday Evening Re-post

"Liberty is not just the absence of tyranny; it's the product of truth, freely practiced!"

Kudos and many thanks to Brian & Kris Bex at the Remnant Trust for the inspiration for this expanded version of The Bill Of No Rights:

We the sensible people of the United States, in an attempt to help everyone maintain dignity and liberty, restore some semblance of justice, promote positive behavior, and secure the blessings of debt-free responsibility to ourselves and our great, great grandchildren hereby try one more time to ordain and establish some common sense guidelines for the terminally whiny, guilt ridden, deluded, and other "we-are-victims" bed-wetting snivelers.
We hold these truths to be self evident: That a whole lot of people are confused by The Bill of Rights and so mind-numbingly dim as to require a Bill of No Rights. God gave Two great Commandments - both positive - then found one day that few were listening - so He clarified with Ten - most negative - so humans would better understand. Our founding fathers did the same - a Bill of Rights.

Well, as before, it's useful and necessary for another simplification:
You do not have the right to a new car, big screen TV, college education or any other form of wealth.
More power to you if you legally obtain them but no one is guaranteeing anything!
You do not have the right to never be offended.
This country is based on liberty, which means freedom for everybody - not just you! You may leave the room, change the channel, express an alternate view, refuse to see the movie/read the book, etc. But the place is full of "others" and always will be.
You do not have the right to be free from harm.
If you stick a screwdriver in your eye learn to be more careful - do not expect the tool manufacturer to make you and all your relatives independently wealthy as reward for lack of individual responsibility. You're free to not wear a motorcycle helmet, but when you crack your cranium on the concrete, you're not free to force me to pay all/part of your doctor bills. You have no right to anything that coercively places a burden on another human being!
You do not have the right to "free" food and housing.

We Americans are the most charitable people on earth and most willingly help anyone in need, but we are quickly growing weary of subsidizing generations of professional goldbrickers and couch potatoes who produce nothing but excuses and more of the same.
You do not have the right to "free" health care.

It might sound nice, but all tends to indicate such a system would have the speed of the Postal Service, the efficiency of the Planning Commission and all the compassion of the Internal Revenue Service.
Sorry, we're just not interested!
You do not have the right to harm other people.

(Read that one again, Johnny Reb!)
If you willingly kidnap, rape, maim or kill someone, don't be surprised if many of us want to see you fry and would gladly throw the freaking switch on behalf of your victim(s)!
You do not have a right to the property of others.

If you rob, cheat or coerce away the goods and/or services of other citizens, don't be surprised if you get locked away someplace miserable where you still won't have the right to a big screen color TV!
You do not have the right to demand the young risk their lives in foreign wars to soothe your aching conscience.

We hate oppressive governments, and won't lift a finger to stop you from going off to fight if you like. However, we don't enjoy spanking the rest of the world for the glory of the Vatican and don't wish to continue spending ourselves into oblivious debt against every tinhorn dictator with a rag on his damned head!
You do not have the right to a job.

We sure want you to have one, and we'll gladly help you get on your feet when you're down, but you are expected to do your part by taking advantage of the almost endless opportunities for education and vocational training laid before you - and make yourself useful!
You do not have the right to happiness.

Being an American means you have the right to persue happiness - which is a hell of a lot easier if you are unencumbered by an overabundance of idiotic rules, regulations and laws created by idol-worshipping fools too willfully ignorant to understand the original Bill of Rights!

Wonder Why The Stock Market's Walking On Eggshells?

"Liberty is not just the abscence of tyranny; it's the product of truth, freely practiced!"

Wonder no more!
This disturbing bit of news reached me via The Atlasphere. Walter Williams doesn't pull any punches, either. I have to ponder the possibility that the fella's related to Fred Douglass, who was also renouned for having true grit. There is an ideological war to be faught and won in American culture. It centers around the right of the working and productive to keep what they have earned. Companies and corporations that bend over and grab their ankles for the environ-MENTALLY ILL, designer/"rights" causes and other ethical fads in the false hope that appeasement will buy them peace are living in a fantasy world. If you give a rat a cookie, he's going to want a glass of milk. Then dinner. Then a flop. Invite the devil to supper, and you should not be surprised if he brings his pajamas and a packed suitcase. One of the reasons extortionists like Jesse hi-Jackson and Al SHARK-ton hang on like leeches is there are so many willing hosts for these parasites.
Having to "assume the position" on April 15th is bad enough. When those in the upper echelons of the business world cater to the looter/pull-peddler mentality of the socialists by handing them money on a silver platter with no coercion involved whatsoever, we should not be at all surprised to see more ravenous and greedy looter-groups arising to demand their "right" to live off others thoughtlessly.
Eventually, America, you are going to have to decide what you really want:

Freedom, or free lunch? You can't have both!

Political Suicide

"Liberty is not just the absence of tyranny; it's the product of truth, freely practiced!"

This almost blew the top of my head off when I saw it.
Un-freaking-believably mindless political suicide!
Do these people have any functioning braincells at all, or has the chronic usage of marijuana and much stronger narcotics totally formatted their grey-matter hard-drives?
You be the judge!

(P.S: Right about now, Zell Miller is screaming the hair off his nuts, "beside himself in extatic transports of rage".)

No Progress Without Struggle

"Liberty is not just the absence of tyranny; it's the product of truth, freely practiced!"

One of the first Libertarian Believers spake on this wise:

"The whole history of the progress of human liberty shows that all concessions made to her august claims, have been made of earnest struggle. The conflict has been exciting, agitating, all-absorbing, and for the time being putting all other tumults to silence. It must do this or it does nothing.
"If there is no struggle, there is no progress.
Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet depreciate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground. They want rain without thunder and lightning. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters. This struggle may be a moral one; or it may be a physical one; or it may be both moral and physical; but it must be a struggle.
"Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never did and it never will. Find out just what people will submit to, and you have found out the exact amount of injustice and wrong that will be imposed upon them; and these will continue til they are resisted with either words or blows, or with both.
The limits of tyrants are prescribed by the endurance of those whom they oppress."

On this excellent testimony of one Frederick Douglass, the prosecution rests...

What say you?

Super Bowl XXXIX

"Liberty is not just the absence of tyranny; it's the product of truth, freely practiced!"

You was warned, on this very blog, about "Mac Da Knife".
Between Donovan and T-O, the Eagles put up a much better fight than anyone - including yours truly - ever freaking imagined! If the rest of the team had been half that good - or just, plain worth a damn - they might have reeled in that Lombardi and the bragging rights.
Oh well, as us Colt/Cowboy fans are well-accustomed to saying, there's always next year!
Of course the Patriots won, but you have to wonder if this is their last tour de force; if all the bally-hoo about "dynasty" won't just translate into die-nasty from here on out? It wasn't a pretty one, either. Another victory 100% dependent on a kicker's leg - the New York Jets might have some intriguing input on that!

Any given Sunday, anything can happen!

The Great Non-controversy

"Liberty is not just the absence of tyranny; it's the product of truth, freely practiced!"

There is this excremental logic wafting stagnantly through the philosophical air: The rotten odor that permeates, saturates and in all-too-many cases, dominates academia and other sectors purported to be strongholds of our society's working thinkers. The highly-prized humbug in the flea-market of modern ideas known as the alleged dichotomy between faith and reason.
Simply stated, it is the idea that these two things are at odds, or loggerheads with one another that is the heart of the problem.
There are those who characterize their preconception that there is no God and therefore anything supposedly related to acknowledgement of a supreme and all-powerful Creator is foolishness, most of them having some abnormal sexual preference or obsessive drug addiction they worship instead. In the other camp reside the staunch advocates of various religions who swear up and down that only by blind allegiance to their dogmas - no matter how irrational and self-contradictory they may be - can you make it. Both ignore the reality of L=RF or simply that You can only believe what you understand!
Human beings minds are designed to function smoothly and efficiently. When they do not, it is usually the result of one of two things going on in the thought process: The desperate effort to believe something that is not true into existence, or the willful rejection of what is true because the individual would have to act upon that truth, which is in conflict with a habitual, cherished thought-action process contrary to it. Ayn Rand's John Galt called it "blank-out". It's the result of "thinking" emotionally, instead of logically. The way a mind is supposed to work is, study, learn the truth, and have the intestinal fortitude to act according to it. The way most people's minds have been programmed to work by their habitual, emotion-based choices is, "I'll believe whatever the hell makes me feel good, whether it's true or not!!!"
- erroneously called freedom by many today.
Reason is not the pretended ability to ignore the complex interplay, structure and symmetry of the universe pointing to intelligent design so as to gratify egotistical lust, but the courage to learn from it and walk according to its principles. "Faith" would be more accurately understood as believing - taking action; the next logical step once one has developed his reasonable understanding sufficiently.
The only real problem - the source of the created "controversy" between Reason and Faith - is the one fabricated by those seeking excuses not to live, rather than Reason for LIVING life more abundantly.

In that category, the collectivists of religion and atheism have more common ground than they could ever possibly imagine!!!

Laughing Jackass Syndrome

"Liberty is not just the abscence of tyranny; it's the product of truth, freely practiced!"

This is a public service announcement, in the interest of the better health of blonde women between 45 and 55.
There seems to be a growing, mental/behavioural problem out there I have noticed, preying upon these poor, unfortunate souls. It manifests itself as a constant, continual inability to end a sentence without emitting a sound that is half-whine and half-laughter. It seems to be so afflicting many of the ladies with whom Galt-In-Da-Box regularly comes in contact with in the working environment, and is about the most ignorant-sounding thing you will ever hear! Perhaps there is some legitimate malady or affliction involved. It maybe they have intentionally resorted to it to avoid long, uncomfortable pauses, "uh"s and "um"s, studdering, stammering or some such other personally undesired behavior (I'll take studdering ANY day, girls...puh-leeze)!!
About half the guys just tune it out. Some notice and pretend it's a laugh, then smile graciously. With desperate hope this isn't some new fad I am of the constitution to equate it with the lackluster comments that normally preceed it and conclude I'm dealing with a dithering dunce! It's getting harder and harder to just walk by it without cracking up at how damned funny it sounds - with growing concern by the day I'm going to do just that and provoke inquiry. Then it'll be time to share these thoughts with person/persons outside this circle
...Hopefully, without consequences.

It's not quite as stupid-sounding as a thick redneck drawl, but it makes a good run for 2nd Place!
